Ok first off don t think that building a wooden power rack is crazy.
Build a power rack from wood.
I built this rack last summer and it has held up very well.
It really is not and the truth is most people are not going to be doing 500lb lifts and this could prob even handle that if it had too.

Wooden power rack july 23 2014 at 6 52 pm but then you couldn t lift bench inside the rack with the safety bars in place because you wouldn t be able to rack them on the back set of supports.
A more basic design is this wooden power rack by endofthree fitness.
This homemade stand can be used for both squats and bench press.
Or if you did lift inside for bench it would be a reverse lift off.
For our needs the wood power rack works great.
It only took one day to buy supplies 120 and build.
Often the body will plateau at some point once.
I used 1 2 pipe and had to.
I routinely load up 200 on squats with no issues working out 3 times a week since the build.

For people serious about getting fit working all of the muscles groups in a challenging way is necessary in order to continue building muscle.
The design uses 2 x4 boards and takes just 2 hours to build.
